Delaware Century!!!!

Dale and I signed up for a Century 100 mile bike ride back in September of last year. It helped us keep healthy over the winter months and we enjoyed training together so much!

We spent a lot of nights and hours on our trainer when it was too cold or dark to be outside.

Our good friends offered to watch our kids so we could participate in our race. So nice of them and the kids had such a blast!

Dale and I drove to Delaware and had a nice drive and evening together. The next morning we were up bright and early to begin our 100 miles.

It rained a little at the beginning but then the sun came out and it turned Hot and Humid with a heat index of 99 degrees. Too hot to ride a bike in that's for sure!

After 3 flat tires within the first 25 miles we finally were able to get going and really enjoyed the rest of the race. We saw some beautiful Delaware country side. Lots of farms and cute houses. Plus, a lot of perfumed chicken farm air, roads covered in rocks and wind! Overall it was a good experience and we are excited to do another one.

Somewhere around mile 75-- I think

Finish line!!! 6 1/2 hours of actual riding time. 15 mph average and 102.1 miles! Whew! We were so tired and we treated ourselves to a Gigantic ice-cream cone!!!

Driving home it's always a pleasant view to come around the corner and see the D.C. Temple. So beautiful!
