An Unusual Graveyard/ Death Valley

The next morning we woke up and headed to Utah. However, we decided to take a small detour. We drove through Mojave, which we've done several times, but this time we stopped to capture a few pics of the Airplane graveyard. 

These airplanes are all past their prime so they are relocated here and used for various parts. Kind of cool to see so many huge airplanes parked next to each other in the middle of no where!

Past Mojave we drove North and went through Death Valley National Park. A place we've both wanted to visit and glad that we did but most likely will never return too!

It is literally in the middle of no where and takes hours to get too, not exactly convenient. But also very cool(not temperature) and interesting.

They have these signs posted as you begin to drive lower and lower.

We stopped at the visitors center and were there for maybe 20 minutes and yet we saw the thermometer rise 3 degree's....So hot!

We then went to the lowest spot which is -282 feet below sea level... they didn't have a temperature reading here but I guarantee it was hotter than 110. It was miserable and 110 would have felt nice. 

We ventured out for a small walk onto the salt flats but after a few hundred feet we realized Will was just guzzling the water and still looking like he was about to pass out.  He was even riding on Dale's shoulders, so we decided to turn around and went back to our air-conditioned car. 

Not sure if you'll be able to spot the sign on the hill that shows where sea level would be. Its teeny but its there.

Back in the car, Will drank some cold water and promptly feel asleep for a 3 hour nap. Dale and I still made a few stops for some quick pictures before heading out of the park and on to St. George.

Pretty awesome and there seems to be some fairly cool hikes and trails, so if we ever go back we'll try them. Just a note to go in the winter months when its pleasant weather.
