Dale had a 4-day break off of work a few weeks back so we decided to put a mini vacation into action. We called up my parents to see if they were interested in meeting us in Denver, CO. I've driven through Denver a few times but never actually stayed and explored so I was excited! My parents agreed and drove from Utah. They picked us up from the airport and we had a good couple of days together exploring.
We went up to Estes Park our first day. What an adorably cute little town! It has a similar vibe as Park City, we walked the streets and explored the cute little shops.
Found a candy store that sold old-fashioned candy..... Dale bought.... candy cigarettes. We had a good laugh.
We then headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park

.......We got to the top where the visitors center is. We could not see ANYTHING. It was scary driving and it was SO cold. Seriously, we were not prepared. It was a bummer that we really didn't get to see the park at all, we'll definitely have to come back someday.
The next day we went to Red Rock Amphitheater. Neat place, Dale and I would both love to come to a concert sometime.
We also went and visited Buffalo Bill's grave site and museum.

We then headed downtown to see Denver. Denver is very artistic and has statues and art everywhere. This is the giant blue bear that looks into the convention center.
A stop for an ice-cream cone. This is a popular place in Denver. It's funny how some places can be so popular without being great just because it's in a cool building or location or they have lots of people who talk about it online (how I heard about it).

We spent two nights, went swimming and had lots of fun with Grandpa and Grandma Heward. Can't wait to see them again.
They dropped us off at the airport where we had delay after delay due to the many thunderstorms. We were able to connect up with my brother-in-law who was also stuck in Denver for delays. We finally got on a plane and made it into Baltimore at 3:30 am, we then rented a car to Dulles, picked up our car and drove home. We got home about 6:30 in the morning and all fell into bed exhausted. Will is such a good traveler though of which I am so grateful for!

Let's see - I am still laughing about Dale smoking the candy cigarettes. Oh, the memories of my childhood. It was all so fun and Will is great to travel with. If you do go back to see a concert, invite us and we will come too! We had a great time!
