Lamma Island

The next morning we woke up and took a ferry out to a small island called Lamma Island. It was a short ferry ride and such an awesome day!

Leaving Hong Kong island and Kowloon and headed to Lamma.

There is only about 5000 people who live on Lamma Island and it's mainly composed of small fishing villages. 

When we got off the ferry we started walking. There is a trail that leads from one end of the island to the other and it was basically deserted beside a few school groups or local people walking. 

The trail went right past this beach where we walked along the shore and touched the East China Sea.

No swimming allowed due to sharks!

The downfall to the amazing views was the HUGE electric plant that produces all of Hong Kong's electricity. What an eyesore, and I'm sure the residents of Lamma Island hated it when they built it. 

At the top we bought some fresh pineapple from a little old lady. It was yummy! We just hoped it wasn't one of the pieces that we saw her drop on the dirt, rinse off in a tub of brown water and stick back in the pile! Oh well if it was, it tasted delicious and we aren't dead.

An old Kamikaze cave from WWII where they hid and waited for passing ships to bomb. 

Walking through the villages they had all kinds of fresh fish etc from the morning's catch. You could choose what you wanted and they would go grill it up for you. 

We loved this day. It was so nice to get away from people and the big city and just enjoy nature a little bit more.
