Macau

My first impression of Hong Kong wasn't the best, my perspective was coming from one that was very tired though. It was past midnight when we landed and then we had to take a 45 min metro to our hotel, we then sort of got lost as we tried to figure out the roads and where our hotel was. As we walked the streets it was just sort of eerie. Garbage, dark, closed shops, random people out and about, and our hotel room was about 12x12 feet big! It's amazing how a few hours of sleep and sunlight can change things around. 

When we woke up we took a bus down to the ferry terminal and caught a ferry out of Hong Kong over to Macau. Macau is a city/state of China and is the Vegas of Asia. It has 6x more gambling then Vegas even though the casinos seemed smaller.

We walked along the water front and found this statue. Not exactly sure what it was, but it was beautiful. 

We watched a Tree of Prosperity and Dragon of Fortune show at the Wynn casino. It was a neat show that had music and the ceiling and floor opened to have a tree grow. The best part of the entire show was the Asian man next to me that was having his friend across the way take pictures of me and him secretly. Hilarious! Looking back I should have given him a hug, it would have made his day to hug a 'redhead'. 

The Grand Lisboa

Inside The Grand Lisboa were these amazing sculptures out of Ivory. So incredible!

Macau was founded by the Portuguese people, so a lot of the buildings have that influence. It was beautiful. We walked for miles and miles all around Macau.

St. Pauls' ruins. Beautiful grounds with an old fort off to the right up on the hill overlooking the entire city.

Across the river you can see more building and the mountains which are mainland China. 

A temple tucked in between some buildings as we walked the streets.  We had a map but had no idea how to get around. Luckily we found our way pretty easily.

A'ma Temple. You can't tell from the picture but it's built on a giant rock. Stone steps were dug out as you climbed up, down and around. It was beautiful!

We then tried to get back to the casinos and ended up hiking a huge hill with a pretty church on top. You can easily get lost on these roads that curve and don't connect. I feel like we really saw Macau though!

After a full day in Macau we took the ferry back to Hong Kong island where we tried to explore but failed. We didn't have any luck and headed back to the hotel where we picked up our free phone that we could use with GPS. (what a life-saver).
