This was such a busy day because we then went and explored some smaller temples. This one is called Che Kung. It was very interesting to walk through and watch people participate in the rituals. So unfamiliar to what Christianity is but so fascinating.

Certainly the most impressive temple we had seen around Hong Kong and also very busy.

We then walked about 30 min down to Kowloon Walled city park. This was where Hong Kong originated you could say. It began as a rice field and then where the military set up camp. Over the years it turned into a massive city that housed 30 thousand residents in maybe a 1/2 mile radius. It eventually became a very horrible place with a lot of drugs, prostitutes and gangs. When Japan ruled HK they tore the city down and used the materials to build where the old airport sits. They then turned the site into a city park, which is very beautiful and peaceful. A few old building still stand and it was just amazing to see.

We got to visit a Buddhist temple in Vancouver, Canada before we left on a cruise once and it was unfamiliar, but so fascinating just like you said! http://andrewjessicaandacat.blogspot.com/2012/05/alaska-cruise-vacation-day-3-vancouver.html I also love the lanterns too!
